As many of you know, I run a jewelry business, Lo Rador Gem House. We specialize in exotic color gemstones, and our style is center stone focused. I travel all around the country exhibiting our jewelry, and one of the most common phrases I hear is “Oh I can’t wear that, it’s much too big”. Now ladies, don’t do yourself a disservice by turning down that 10 carat Aquamarine!
I know most people aren’t used to wearing “big jewelry”. They are afraid people might think it’s too gaudy. My answer is, who cares! If you like the ring, just wear it! In the larger scope of things, it’s one of the smaller accessories you will be wearing anyway, and jewelry ALWAYS looks better the bigger it is. The point is, don’t dim your light just because others don’t want you to shine.
I love wearing large rings, and one of the hottest ways to wear a large cocktail ring is on the index finger.
I think wearing a large cocktail ring on the index finger really keeps it from being too pretentious. Rather than saying “I’m wearing this ring to show it off”, I think wearing a ring on the index finger says “I’m wearing this ring because I absolutely love it”. It really seems to say that you’re not taking it too seriously. And it definitely adds a chic vibe to a ring that could otherwise be gaudy.
Wearing a ring on the ring finger is more traditional, while wearing a ring on the index finger is more edgy, more chic.
On my ring finger, I’m wearing a Burmese Ruby in style R495 set in 18k white gold with princess cut diamonds, and on my index finger, I’m wearing my “Love” ring that I bought from my friend Ed, and one of my favorite pieces, a ring containing a rough diamond that my father designed and had made for me.
Wearing those two rings together are very important to me because they remind me of what’s important in life- Love, and Possibilities. Don’t be afraid to rock those statement rings!
